Our training is a comprehensive 3-day, program designed to equip professionals with the tools and knowledge to effectively support individuals with challenging behaviors. Here is how the training is structured:
Day 1 – Healthy Behavioral Practices, Expert Training PLUS Intro to Behavior Support Plans
• 4 to 5 Hours
Day 2 – Behavior Support Plans: A Writing Guide
• 4 to 5 Hours
Day 3 – Behavior Support Plan “Train the Trainer”
• 5 to 6 Hours
Not at this time, no. These robust trainings are best experienced in-person to gain the most impact and understanding.
Yes. Our curriculum meets the requirements for Community and Employment Support (CES) Agency Standards effective April 1, 2024 as outlined in the DDS regulations for the Certification of Positive Behavior Support Specialists.
Recertification is required every 2 years. Post-credit support includes access to a specialized peer review group that offers a quality review process for Case Managers and Community and Employment Service providers, ensuring Behavior Support Plans are written with as much efficacy as possible.
We will provide a Behavior Support Plan writing guide, an indirect assessment tool that aids in analyzing the assessment results, and resource templates (e.g., for behavior support plans and competency-check monitoring).
Our behavior experts provide as-needed and ongoing consultation to Case Managers and other behavior analysts (BAs) regarding consumer severe problem behavior, complex cases, staff adherence to Behavior Support Plans, and development of meaningful skill-building programming.
Meet Our Trainers:
Nichole Kanaman, Ph.D., BCBA
Chief Operations Officer
Dr. Nicole Kanaman earned her bachelor’s degree in applied behavior analysis at the University of North Texas, her master’s degree in applied behavioral sciences at the University of Kansas (KU), and her Ph.D. in behavioral psychology at KU. Read her dissertation here.
Nicole is a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) at the doctoral level and has provided behavioral services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the lifespan for over 10 years. Her research interests are centered around addressing the gap often found between published literature and direct clinical services, and she pursues this line of research at GoodLife Innovations in collaboration with the organization’s partnership with the Department of Applied Behavioral Sciences at KU.
Marissa Kamlowsky, Ph.D., BCBA
Director of Clinical Services
Dr. Marissa Kamlowsky earned her Ph.D. in Behavioral Psychology at The University of Kansas, specializing in assessing and treating challenging behavior in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and staff training. She holds an M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis from Florida Institute of Technology and a B.A. in Psychology from Ohio University.
With extensive experience in clinical support for individuals with autism and related disabilities, Marissa currently serves as the Director of Clinical Services for GoodLife Innovations, overseeing multiple departments. She is passionate about developing effective, sustainable training systems and integrating research-based methods into clinical practice. Her research includes assessing and treating challenging behaviors and teaching adaptive and self-advocacy skills to adults with I/DD.
Lisa Popelka, MS., BCBA
Assistant Director of Behavioral Services
Lisa Popelka holds a Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis from the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Avila University. She serves on the Legislative Committee for the Kansas Association for Behavior Analysis. Her practicum experience focused on supporting individuals with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities and assisting their direct support staff and families in enhancing behavioral, social, communication, and learning skills. Currently, Lisa is the Assistant Director of Behavioral Services at GoodLife Innovations. In this role, she continues to share her expertise by conducting skill assessments and training staff on best practices, positively impacting both individuals and the direct support staff that serve them.
