Community Village Lawrence is a membership and volunteer-based program in Lawrence, KS where neighbors come together to lend a helping hand and enrich each other’s lives. A nod to days when neighbors were as familiar as family, willing and able volunteers provide simple services for resident members with needs such as transportation, pet care, companionship, tech assistance and more. This low-cost network supports social connectivity, community, and independence.
Are you recently retired and looking to help your neighbors on a regular or occasional basis? Do you have some free time over the summer to help out with transportation or basic home maintenance? Signing up for Membership
Members pay an affordable monthly or annual fee to receive assistance through a network of volunteers and pre-approved service providers. Members have access to a selection of social, educational, cultural, and wellness activities.
Making a Service Request
Members call or email Community Village staff who will then match them with an available volunteer to help them with their request. Volunteers are community members of all ages who wish to share their skills, talents, and time to help members.
Providing a Service
Volunteers can easily claim the request for service and perform simple, local services for neighbors in need. When the service is complete, Volunteers contact the Community Village staff with their mileage, time, and comments.
After the Request is Complete
Once the service is complete, a Community Village staff person will contact the member to get their comments and feedback on the services provided.

Community members of any age can volunteer. Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Volunteer opportunities can follow a regular schedule or be scheduled on a case-by-case basis. When members request a service, Community Village staff match a volunteer according to their skill, location, and availability, and arrange for the service to be completed.
